Vista athlete Jasper Löffelsend has been selected by Real Salt Lake as the 81st pick in the 2022 MLS Draft. He is the only German selected in this year’s draft.
After an outstanding college career at the University of Pittsburgh, the 24-year-old two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year and All-American First Team player now has the chance to compete for a contract in the MLS.
Jasper serves as a role model for what we call an alternative career path. He is an example of a player who played in the men’s regional league and major league but did not immediately make the breakthrough in one of the top three professional leagues.
During his time at the University of Pittsburgh, he took advantage of the professional environment and showcased his talent and high work ethic, which helped him develop as a player and a person. Now he is ready to take the next step in his professional career.
Jasper is the first Vista player to be selected in the MLS draft, but he certainly won’t be the last. At Vista Athletics, we strive to represent excellent players with a clear attitude.
On behalf of the entire Vista family, we congratulate you on this historic achievement and wish you all the best for the future.

“I wanted to take my life into my own hands and not be dependent on anyone, on any manager or whatever,” Wiese recalled this week.
His best friend in Rostock, Thore Boehm, wanted to go to the USA to play college soccer, and Wiese decided to take advantage of the opportunity. In the summer of 2020, he began working with Vista Athletics, a Germany-based organization that connects promising soccer players with colleges in the US. In the fall, the University of Virginia coaching staff contacted Wiese. […]
